Safety Considerations |
||
|
In a recent game during the half time interval a player tee’d the ball up into the air on the half way line and proceeded to hit the ball as hard as he could to see if he could get it into the goal at the end of the pitch. Unfortunately he hit another player who was leaving the pitch to get a drink causing him to suffer a triple fracture of the cheekbone. This could have been even more serious had for example the ball struck the temple. The safety of others should always be a prime consideration particularly during practice and warm up sessions when multiple balls may be use and players may be generally moving about. This incident should be a warning to us all and clubs are encouraged to review all aspects of their practice and warm up procedures to ensure nothing like this happens again. |
