APPLICATIONS ARE SOUGHT FOR POSITIONS IN THE NORTH’S JUNIOR REGIONAL PERFORMANCE CENTRES.

 

For many years the North region has been represented at Schools and Youth level by teams prepared and selected y the North Girls Schools & Youth HA, the North East Boys North Schools & Youth HA and the North West Boys North Schools & Youth HA.

This has now come to an end and, under the single system, we will have Regional Hockey at three Junior Regional Performance centres, one based near to Leeds, one near to Newcastle and one near to North Manchester. Under 18 and under 16 squads of Boys and Girls from each of the three centres will play in a Tournament in the North at the end of September and then England Hockey working with the lead coaches from the three centres will select one side from each of the four groups to play in a four team tournament at the end of October. There will be 9 other JRPCs around the country and they will also be clustered in set of three to produce the other sides.

In the North in September we established a North Performance Committee to lead the transition and it has worked with the three current North Regional S&Y Committees to establish Management Structures for each of the JRPCs.

All clubs, administrators and coaches have been written to and sent a copy of the documentation. Each also received invitations to apply for appointment to one of the administrative or coaching positions within the structure.

Many good applications have been received but there are some gaps and although the stated date for receipt of applications has already passed further applications would be welcomed.

In the Newcastle area, Caroline Luck has been appointed as Chair and Philip Sykes as Vice chair. In Leeds Bev Barstow has accepted an invitation to Chair the Girls’ Committee but nominations are still being sought for the post of Chair of the Boys’ Committee, In the Manchester area Des Roberts has been appointed as Chair of the Boys’ Committee but here we are still seeking nominations for the leadership of the Girls’ Committee.

Coaches and Managers will be appointed during the course of the next month.
