Boys’ Under 13 Tournament

 

This statement is issued with the intention of clarifying this Association’s position with regard to the above tournament.

 

During 2006, England Hockey decided that the former Boys’ Under 13 Regional Tournament should not continue since it no longer fell within the Long Term Athlete Development and Performance Plans.  North Hockey Association supported that policy and appropriate instructions were issued to North East England Schools & Youth Hockey Association and North West England Schools & Youth Hockey Association.

 

However, it was recognised that an unofficial festival might still be organised by certain individuals who did not agree with these decisions.  NHA made clear, at the time, that any insurance cover arranged by NHA or any of its sub-committees, including NEES&Y and NWES&Y, would not be valid for that competition.  It was also stated that any team arranged from within this region would not have any official standing and it should not seek to infer any regional support by having “North” in its title.

 

The competitions arranged at Leeds Metropolitan University on Saturday, 28 April 2007 and at Nottingham on 22/24 June 2007 do not have any official standing.  Any team selected from within this region cannot be regarded as an official team under the auspices of any part of North Hockey Association.
